Product Description:
ECO Safe Descaler Liquid is a concentrated, water-based acidic descaling formulation containing approximately 40% active organic acid blends. It is designed for the controlled removal of:
  • Calcium carbonate scale
  • Magnesium deposits
  • Hard-water scale
  • Mineral deposits
  • Light iron oxide/rust deposits
  • Metal oxides
  • Inorganic deposits
  • Carbonate-based deposits
 
The specialtity of RXSOL ECO Safe is that it acts both as an acid and as a chelating/sequestering agent, helping dissolve mineral deposits and keep dissolved metal ions in solution.
 
Unlike hydrochloric acid and other strong mineral acids, this special Descaler is a relatively weak organic acid and is commonly used where a more controlled acid-cleaning system is desired.
 
Can also used for stainless-steel cleaning and passivation; 304 and 316 stainless steels are generally considered suitable for normal acid handling applications.

For most industrial cleaning operations, it is preferable to begin with a 10-20% product solution and increase concentration if required.
 
The optimum concentration depends on:

Best Practice to follow for CLEANING SCALE using RXSOL ECO Safe Descaler Liquid

Step 1: Pre-cleaning
 
Remove loose deposits and hydrocarbon/oily contamination where applicable.
 
For heavily oil-contaminated equipment, alkaline cleaning/degreasing should normally precede acid descaling.
 
Step 2: Prepare Cleaning Solution
 
Fill the system with water and add RXSOL Eco Safe Descaler Liquid.
 
Important: Add acid product gradually to water while circulating.
 
Do not add large quantities of water into concentrated acid in an uncontrolled manner.
 
Step 3: Circulation
 
Circulate the cleaning solution through the equipment.
 
Typical cleaning temperature:
 
20-60°C
 
NOTE: Higher temperatures can increase cleaning rate but may also increase corrosion and elastomer/material interaction. Therefore, temperature should be controlled according to the equipment metallurgy.
 
Step 4:  Monitor Cleaning
 
Monitor following parameters while cleaning:
  • pH
  • Acid concentration
  • Iron concentration
  • Calcium concentration
  • Appearance of solution
  • Scale removal
  • Corrosion condition
When the acid becomes substantially depleted, additional product may be required.
 
Step 5: Drain
 
Drain the spent cleaning solution according to the site's wastewater/environmental requirements.
 
Step 6: Water Rinse
 
Rinse thoroughly with clean water until the discharge is approximately neutral.
 
Step 7: Passivation / Neutralization
 
Where required, stainless-steel systems may receive an appropriate passivation treatment following cleaning.

A compatibility chart should not be interpreted as "ECO Safe Descaler can be left indefinitely in the equipment."

For example, stainless steels are generally very resistant to ECO Safe, but temperature and chloride contamination can change the corrosion risk. The British Stainless Steel Association specifically notes that chloride contamination can cause pitting and that higher temperatures may require more corrosion-resistant stainless grades.

ECO Safe Descaler Liquid is considered safe on elastomers like NBR , Buna-N. Note that elastomer contact time and temperature are exrtemely crucial to prevent swelling on gaskets.
