Safe Passivator Liquid 630

Product code RXSOL-38-1630-025

Prevent SMUT formation, discoloration and toxic fumes due to nitric acid pickling by using Safe Passivator Liquid which is acid free.

Description
RXSOL Safe Passivator Liquid 630 is an acid-free liquid passivating and surface-conditioning treatment developed for stainless steel surfaces after pickling, fabrication, welding, grinding, blasting and other mechanical or chemical treatments.

During fabrication and pickling, the natural passive chromium-rich oxide layer of stainless steel may be disturbed. Residual free iron, smut and surface contamination can also contribute to flash rusting, staining and discoloration.

Safe Passivator Liquid 630 is designed to assist in the restoration and stabilization of the passive surface condition while helping remove residual free iron and reducing the possibility of subsequent staining.

The product is particularly suitable where a safer, nitric-acid-free passivation treatment is preferred.

Where to use Safe Passivator Liquid 630?

Safe Passivator Liquid 630 is recommended for:

Passivation after pickling: Applied to freshly pickled stainless-steel surfaces to promote restoration of the protective passive layer.

Passivation after mechanical treatment: Suitable after grinding, brushing, polishing, blasting and fabrication operations that may disturb the stainless-steel passive surface.

Free iron / smut removal: Helps remove traces of free iron and surface residues that may otherwise cause rust spots or discoloration.

Flash rust prevention: Particularly useful immediately after pickling where flash rust or brown staining may occur during drying.

Post-pickling treatment: Can be used as a final conditioning treatment before equipment is returned to service.

Precautions
Precautions
Materials of Application   The product can be applied using suitable chemical-resistant equipment, including:
  • Chemical-resistant low-pressure spray equipment
  • Acid/chemical-resistant pumps
  • Plastic or compatible stainless-steel application equipment
  • Brushes and suitable manual application systems
  • Immersion tanks
  • Circulation cleaning systems
Important Operating Notes   The surface should be thoroughly rinsed after pickling before passivator application. For best results, apply the passivator uniformly so that the complete stainless-steel surface remains wetted throughout the required contact period.   Do not permit loosened pickling residues, chloride-rich rinse water or contaminated rinse water to remain on the stainless-steel surface after treatment.   Where high-purity service, pharmaceutical equipment, food-contact equipment or critical process systems are involved, the final rinse-water quality and acceptance criteria should be established according to the applicable plant procedure.   Suitable Stainless-Steel Applications   Safe Passivator Liquid 630 can be considered for general passivation treatment of stainless-steel:   Tanks • Pipelines • Heat exchangers • Process vessels • Fabricated components • Stainless-steel structures • Marine equipment • Pumps • Valves • Tubing • Welded assemblies   Compatibility and treatment effectiveness should be verified on the actual stainless-steel grade and surface condition before large-scale application.
