Description
Orcein is used for the preparation of a staining solution for staining of elastic fibers.
It is also used for sex chromatin staining, nuclear staining and demonstration of hepatic inclusions, especially of hepatitis B antigen.

Orcein is also used as a stain in microscopy to visualize chromosomes, elastic fibers, Hepatitis B surface antigens, and copper-associated proteins.
